Category: Formulas that Treat Dryness

Pattern: Wasting and Thirsting (Xiao Ke) due to deficiency of Yuan Qi failing to transport fluids upwards

Key Symptoms: Excessive thirst that is not quenched by substantial intake of fluids, frequent copious or turbid urine, lassitude, shortness of breath

Pulse: Deficient, thin and weak


Ingredients

Shan Yao 30g
Huang Qi 15g
Zhi Mu 18g
Tian Hua Fen 9g
Ji Nei Jin 6g
Ge Gen 4.5g
Wu Wei Zi 9g

Subsitutions:
In the UK Ji Nei Jin must be substituted. The usual substitution is Shan Yao (already in the formula) and Mai Ya.


Preparation: Decoction.


Actions: Augments the Qi, generates fluids, moistens dryness, alleviates thirst

Contraindications: Diabetes patterns characterised by Yangming excess Heat with internal clumping or insufficiency of Ming Men Fire
